ABOUT

Xan is an 14-year-old artist based in Washington, DC. She observes and captures moments from her childhood through a raw, vibrant style that emphasizes color, texture and feeling.

Working across different media, Xan began developing her artistic voice at a young age. In late 2020, at eight years old, Xan created her first series, Clock Abstract, reflecting the disorienting and chaotic experience of isolation during the pandemic. Two years later, she began the Study of Light, inspired by the noticeable shifts in natural light during Daylight Saving Time transitions.
“I put my feelings on the canvas or paper. Art is my language and is part of me,” she said in an interview with Stroll Magazine in early 2023.

Her work, Day Dreaming, was selected to the group student exhibition The Essence of A Childhood Summer at DC's Studio Gallery in summer 2025.

Xan will begin her freshman year in 2026 in the Visual Art program at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where she looks forward to continuing to grow and explore alongside other young artists.
